Explanation / Answer

As per NPR 's morning edition dated November 17th 2016 , Dr Vivek Mirthy ,Us general surgeon spoke about the increasing rates of substance abuse and its disorders.He stated that an estimated 20.8 million people in US are affected with substance abuse disorder which is similar to people affected with diabetes and 1.5 times more than the people having all types of cancer taken together.Dr Vivek also points out that whatever prevention and attention we give to diabetic and cancer patients ,we need to give same importance to the substance abuse cases.The report also stated that substance abuse affects the poor and rich irrespective of social and economic status eventually degrading productivity of the community.The doctor further stated that we treat substance abuse as character or moral flaws whereas it is a disruption in brain circuit with the individual having no control over stress responses .So unlike other disease this disorder requires equal attention.Studies have shown that opiod crisis though are the most common reported cases alcohol abuse disorders are recently the most dreadful disorders that are tearing apart families.Dr Vivek have urged schools,colleges to start sessions about opiod and substance disorder and explain their harmful sides to the youngsters who are the common victims.He also urged the institutions to teach students how to cope with stress as excess stress leads to youngsters taking drugs more.Though the datker side of ever increasing substance abuse disorder cases emerges a lot of communities along with schools ,colleges have started classes helping the students understand the ill effects of substance abuse.Family members should also have regular sit downs with teens to enquire whether they are stressed or worried or not.They should not pressurize their wards which can lead to their depression.

The perie approach have five elements which are duly defined in this article viz

1.Problem:Substance abuse disorders

2.Etiology:Stress and not knowing the methods of coping ,peer pressure,socioeconomic influence,bad family experience etc.

3.Recommendation:Teaching classes or workshops on how to deal with stress ,bad effects of different opiods and alcohol and setting moral standards at home.

4.Implementation:The statistics of ever increasing substance abuse disorder cases should not bring negativity as most school,colleges have started sessions for youngsters .Also parents are becoming more conscious back at home to set a moral standard.The doctor is hopeful Trump administration will also give due importance to this ordeal.

5.Evaluation:The rising awareness against this substance abuse disorder cases have somehow started to affect the US population in a positive way though a major change is yet to come.
