"Why should I join the union when I get exactly the same wages and benefits without joining?"
Response: Being a part of a union strengthen the bargaining power of a labor. If any layoff or cut in wages occur in organization, union memebers will be the least effective because of collective bargaining. Hence for future security union is required.
"I can't afford to join. I've got a family to support, and my check just isn't big enough (to cover union dues)."
Response: Joining a union is not that much expensive. It onl requires ver nominal membership fee and subscription but it returns alot in terms of security to job, problem solving at work, improvong conditions of labor, bargaining for increasing salary etc.
"I don't need a union. My employer is fair and will take care of me. What could the union get for me that I wouldn't have gotten anyway?"
Response: Employer may get change due to change in economic or other conditions.
"The union does not do anything for you [grievances are not settled satisfactorily]. I don't like the people who are running things in the union."
Response: Union may get its leadr changed and selection is generally done on voting system.
"I don't know enough about the local or the union movement."
Response: Union will help you to know about it and it is very neccessary for safeguarding ourselves from exploitation.
"I'm not interested. I just don't want to join."
Respones: Lets discuss benefits of joining a union then after you decide.
"I'll think about it. Maybe I'll join someday."
