A fast food restraunt runs in the industry where there are large numbers of buyers and competitors as well. It is a service industry where front end is more important than back end. Providing quality fast food at cheaper rate with lots of variety and additional services are main features at which fast food firms compete with each other.
As said providing quality food, good taste along with good, clean, fresh and healthy ingredient is must, benchmarking and empowerment could be used as two tools to acheive Total Quality Management. TQM not only involve providing quality food but also include Employee involvement, focus on the customer, benchmarking, and continuous improvement. Empowerment given to employees will help them to fulfill their responsibilities at their own way. This will lead to innovation and cretivity. Ideas will build up and will help a fadst food firm to come out with lots of varities of foods and services as well. Employees are trained and empowered to make decisions for problem solving. TQM shift from a bureaucratic to a decentralized approach to control.
Benchmarking is a process which involves obtaining historic construction cost information collected. This historic information provides the benchmark against which a customer can assess their projects value for money at a base building level with set specifics separated out. Benchmarking also can defined as the continuous process of measuring products, services, and practices against the toughest competitors. Generally fast food firms like McDonald and Burger King use each others result as their benchmark. This help them to make improvement, get an upper hand.
