please answer all of the questions thank you

Map D 1. What type of geologic contact exists between the Devonian shale and Permian wa ckestone? What type of geologic contact exists between the P siltstone? 2. ermian wackestone and Jurassic What structure is found in Map D? What two pieces of evidence support your interpretation? 3. Sketch a geologic cross-section across the entire map area in a geologically appropriate orientation below the map. Hint: it is typically appropriate to draw a cross-section that is across the strike of the main geologic features in the area, e.g., bedding, faults, folds, eto. Make sure you put on the line of section on the map. Check your line of section with a TA before you sketch the section. 4.

Explanation / Answer

Map D :

1. The geologic contact exists between Devonian Shale and Permian Wackestone is folding contact identified by dipping of the beds.

2. The geologic contact exists between Permian Wackestone and Jurassic siltstone is the depositional contact.

3. The map is showing the dip direction of beds. The beds are folded and as both limbs dip away from each other, hence the fold is an antiform. But the map view is like a synform. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the overall structure is an inverted topography or topography inversion.

The evidence supporting the folding structure is the symmetrical repetition of beds on either sides of Cambrian Conglomerate.
