Which principle supports the interpretation that the igneous rock body is younger than the sedimentary rock layers around it? cross 10. Explain why we can confidently say that the igneous rock body was formed before the erosion event that formed the angular unconformity?Explanation / Answer
Ans 8:- According to the Stenos law of original horizontality it states that the primary bedding of the layers of sediments laid down, always parellels the surface of the earth. Thus it is on this basis we can say that anticline was formed after the three sediment rock layers.
Ans 9:- From the principle of cross cutting of strata we can state that the igneous body is younger than the sedimentary rocks around it.
Ans 10:- We can say so because we see no continuation of the igneous body beyond the angular unconfirmity, which clearly supports the fact as the unconfirmity formed might have eroded the igneous body further since it formed later.
Ans 11:- oldest to youngest : D B K H E A
