Question
The following figure p ompetition. In one experiment, weeds were added at different times after crop planting ("We resents crop yield data from two experiments on weed-crop eeds added"). In the other experiment, weeds that emerged with the crop were removed at different times after crop planting ("Weeds removed"). Use the figure to determine the Critical Period of Weed Control. Assume that 5% yield loss is acceptable. ( 10 points) Weeds removed A Weeds added 100 90 80 70 adloled 60 50 renno 40 30 Weeks after plantingExplanation / Answer
Given 5% yield loss.
So we first plot the 5% yield loss on the graph.
when we apply 5% to the graph, then it will be at 95 on the Y- axis. (100-95=5%)
Hence points to plot the critical period of weed control.
1)At first, from the point 95 on Y-axis draw a horizontal line. This line intersects the weed added curve and weed removed curve.
2)Mark the points on the two curves where the line meets the two curves.
3)Now draw vertical line from the point ( intersection point on the weed added curve) to the X- axis. It meet X-axis at 6 (or) between 6 and 8.
4)Now draw vertical line from the point (intersection point on the weed removed curve )to the X-axis. It meet X- axis at 2 (or) between 2 and 4.
5)Now the point on the X-axis obtained by the weed removed curve is named as "wrp" weed removed point.
6)Now the point on the X-axis obtained by the weed added curve is named as "wap" weed added point.
7)Now the distance between the wrp and wap will be th eresult.
8)The distance is called the time difference between them and gives the critical period of weed control.
Example: 6-2 = 4 weeks. will be the critical period of weed control.
