Question

Does money influence class?

After reading the Down-to-Earth Sociology box, pg. 229, “The Big Win: Life After the Lottery,” discuss how your life would change if you won a lottery for $100 million or more. How would your present personal relationships change? Would you change your course of study or even drop out of school? What would be your initial “splurge” of spending? Would this automatically change your status or social class? If you know of anyone who has won a large lottery, share with the class how their life changed. Finally, do you believe money can buy happiness? Explain the reason for your answer.

Explanation / Answer

Ans

My life will certainly change. I will become rich and afford luxurious cars, bikes, quality food, better house etc. I don't think personal relationships will change except that if I was subordinate to some one in job earlier I will be no more as I will not prefer job now.

I will not drop out and invest in business like software development while I will myself study such a course like software development which will help me in my business.

My initial splurge will be on car, mobile phones, bike, food etc. No social status will take time to change. People do not accept right to be of higher social status within days. No I don't know any such person

No money can't by happiness. Otherwise usa should have been one of the happiest country in world since its per capita income is high. A safe without having any material wealth could be happiest person.
