Explanation / Answer
Relationship between Climate and tree growth?
Climate system is defined as a long term pattern of weather in a particular area. Weather can change from hour to hour, day to day, week to week or month to month.
Different parts of the world have different climates, for example:
Tropical-Wet Climate: In places where hot and rainfall almost every day.
Polar Climate: The places are cold and covered with snow almost throughout the year.
TREE RING patterns provide data about past climate and it is the most accurate evidence about climate history. The method or study about this growth of tree rings is known as DENDROCHRONOLOGY. Where as the study of the relationship between Climate and tree growth is termed as DENDROCLIMATOLOGY( which helps to reconstruct past climates) for example to date timber its rings are observed. Archeologists use computer analysis and other method which allow them to better understand the large scale climatic changes that probably occured in past centuries.
Which geographical region would be most affected by change in annual precipitation and temperature?
If we observe northeast region the annual temperatures ranges much above average temperature compared to southeast where the average temperatures record warmest. If you observe the statewide ranks it clearly indicates that Southeast states are WARM.
The annual precipitation ranks ranges anywhere around above average to much above average in northeast, which indicates northeast is WET. Where as the annual temperature of the southeast ranges very low and not even average which indicates it is HUMID and dry compared to northeast.
So by considering all these factors the SOUTHEAST geographical region would be most affected by these drastic changes in total annual precipitation and temperature. In my opinion northeast would be an ideal option to expect more tree growth even in nearby future.
