Explanation / Answer

First step is to choose wthe company you are going to study. This is rather the most difficult task as you cannot always gain access to the financial statements of big companies. It would be better to approach a smaller but growing company who would be happy to share their information with you, albeit restricted, because they too are looking for some publicity(for thier works) through you.

The best approach would be to go through a person you already know,if any, who works in the company. If that is not the case then you have to make some efforts to capture the attention of the company and give an impression that you are sincerely interested in studying them for your assignment. It would do good to go through the company's website and social media profiles and FOLLOW them regularly and leave comments on their posts.

They would definitely respond when you pose questions and when they do you, Grab the chance and make sure they realise that you would want to study them and it is purely of academic interest. If they acknowledge, you can visit them and start your study on a mutually conveinient time. If they dont acknowledge, then find out in which better ways you can approach them.If it appears impossible, then leave it and try for a different company.

Observation is the key to writing a report on the company. Concentrate when you talking to the personnel and also when you are free observe carefully how they work and what they use. Dont pry, but be subtle. When you look at the premises itself, you can hazard a guess as to what would they spend on maintainance.

Getting the maintainance shett or the letter wont be a concern.Companies generally volunteer for it themselves. If they dont prefer written, you could ask the personnel you interview if you could record the conversation for references while writing a report.
