Transduction- The process in which the light and sound waves are converted into electrical impulses or action potentials, so that our brain can understand it is called transduction.

Sensory adaptation- When our sense organs are exposed to a continuous stimulus, they no longer percieve it as a stimulus, or are sensitive to it. This is called sensory adaptation. Example - The sound in traffic junctions becomes normal after few moments, which may be initially irritating to the senses.

Just noticeable difference (JND)- The ability of our brain to detect the immediate difference between two stimulus that has two different intensities. Example- The ability to detect the even the minor difference between two sound intensities of a piece of music played in our music system.
