Explanation / Answer
Education and Economy
Education and economy both are closely related to each other. High level of education and literacy rate has a direct positive impact on the economy. Education on one hand aims at developing skills in the humans and thus making them productive for the economy. Such skill development through education programmes have a positive effect on improving the condition of an economy. Most of the economies around the world are aiming towards increasing the level of education in their nation for prosperity of their economy.
However there are few social problems related to the concept of education and economy.
The rural part of any nation basically observes low literacy rate due to lack of awareness regarding importance of education. High dropout rate is a major concern in the developing economies such as India, Sri Lanka, China etc. Low literacy rate acts as a hinderance in the productive capacity of the citizens. Apart from this, poverty and other social restrictions act as an obstacle for the people to attain higher education and literacy. In countries such as India, Pakistan, Bhutan etc it has been found that high level of poverty forces young children to quit regular school or college and get involved in minor income generating tasks for earning their survival. Thus quitting education entangles people in the vicious circle of poverty. Hence acting as a shackle in the economy's development. Low female literacy rate and lack of educational opportunities in the rural and underdeveloped nations is a major social issue which is acting as a clutch for economy's development.
A major step towards solving this problem would be to implement policies such as compulsory education for each one, free education to people below poverty line etc would help significantly in promoting education for each one. effectie goovernment incentives would also induce youngsters to continue their education. Government must also imphasise on job creation for students who can utilise their productivity for economy's developement. Female education must be supported and it must be ensured that each girl gets quality education and contributes equally in economy's welfare. The educational institutions must be decentralised and they must reach the remortest corner of the nation. The government must adopt an interactive approach where there is free flow of information between the government officials and general public regarding implementation of educational policies at a grass root level.
If a nation has sufficient educational strength then its economy obviously reaches the zenith of development and prosperity.
