The top part of a water tank is divided into two compartments, as shown in the figure below. The Water Tank Now a liquid with an unknown density is poured into one side, and the water level raises a certain amount on the other side to compensate for this effect. Based on the final fluid heights in the figure, determine the density of the liquid added. Assume that the liquid does not mix with the water, the density of water is 1000 kg/m3, and the density of air is small compared to that of the fluids.

Fom the surface of the liquid i.e air fluid boundary to depth of the fluid
We have pressure is P = P (atmosphere ) + height of unknown liquid column * density of unknown liquid * gravity
Similarly on water side P = P atm + height from the surface to liquid water boundary * 1000 * gravity
Both P are equal. So equating we get
h 1 * d1 = h2 * 1000
We can get d if we know both the heights.
