Question

C. D. 23.8 k mol 380 kJ/mol 9. The relative initial rates of the reaction A+ B+productse- | 0 in vessels (a)-(d) are 1:22:4. Unshaded spheres represent A; molecules, and shaded spheres represent B; molecules present at the beginning of the reaction. What is the order of reaction with respect to A What is the order of the reaction with respect to B What is the overall order of the reaction? 10. Consider the first-order reaction A B in which A molecules (unshaded spheres) are converted to B molecules (shaded spheres). Given the following pictures at t-0 seconds and 100 seconds, which picture represents the number of A and B molecules remaining at 200 seconds? t Oseconds100 seconds le) Rev2018

Explanation / Answer

ANSWER 9:

A2 + B2 = products . Thus, rate of the reaction = k (A2)1. (B2)1

Order of the reactions with respect to A2 is 1.

Order of the reactions with respect to B2 is 1.

Overall order of the reaction is 2.

ANSWER 10:

From the information in the question, we can see that it has taken 100s to convert half of the number of A molecules to B molecules. Thus in another 100 s, ( i.e: a total of 200s), the half of the remaining A molecules will be converted to B molecules.

AT t= 0, 16 'A' molecules were present.

AT t=100s, 8 'A' molecules were converted to 'B' molecules.

AT t=200s, out of the remaining 8 'A' molecules, half of them will covert to 'B' molecules (i.e: 4 'B' molecules are formed). This leaves only 4 'A' molecules unchanged in the reaction.

Thus the answer is: IMAGE 'B'
