Question 4,

Question 5,
What is the difference between an element and a compound?
Explanation / Answer
Answer 4.
An atom is a pure element i.e it has the actual and original physical and chemical properties of a single element, whereas a molecule is a uniform combination/compunding of two or more same or different elements.
An atom is made up of protons neutrons and electrons , while molecules are made up of atoms.
Original properties of element are always present in an atom while a molecule may or may not be similar o the physical and chemical properties of the parent atoms.
An atom does not contain a chemical bond while the atoms of a molecule are bounded by a chemical bond.
In nature molecules are more common than pure atoms.
Molecules are far more stable than single atoms.
eg. Water molecules cover almost 70-80% of earth, while hydrogen atom in its free form is highly unstable and can be seen in the interiors of the sun.
