1. No the results will not support the concept “like dissolve like” for example, sucrose is organic compound but it will not dissolve in either of the two organic solvents. Similarly naphthalene will not dissolve in the isopropanol.
2. Yes naphthalene and sucrose have difference in their solubility.
Sucrose is a polar molecule so it is highly soluble in water and insoluble in isopropanol and ethyl acetate.
Naphthalene is a organic compound and is completely covalent in nature so it is insoluble in polar solvent water and partially soluble in isopropanol and will be completely soluble in ethyl acetate.
3. A) The solution in the dialysis tube was initially hypertonic with respect to the distilled water.
B) The driving force for both osmosis and dialysis is generation of concentration gradient solutions on either sides of the membrane.
