e.) none of these

QUESTION 2) Pressure is defined as force per unit area, and it is affected by
I. the number of collisions between molecules and the walls of the container.
II. the force of the collisions between molecules and the walls of the container.
III. the strength of the attractions between the molecules of the gas.
IV. the strength of the attractions between the molecules of the gas and the walls of the container.

a.) gas only

b.) solid, liquid and gas

c.) liquid and gas

d.) gas and solid

e.) solid and liquid

QUESTION 5 Propane for home heating is sometimes purchased by the pound, where the tank is weighed before delivery and again after the customer has finished using it Which quantity or quantities are constant in this situation? None of these QUESTION 6 Pressure is defined as force per unit area, and it is affected by l. the number of collisions between molecules and the walls of the container Il. the force of the collisions between molecules and the walls of the container III. the strength of the attractions between the molecules of the gas IV. the strength of the attractions between the molecules of the gas and the walls of the container O Iand nly O IlI and IV only O I and Ill only O None of these O All of these QUESTION 7 On a warm spring afternoon, you the lab, put on your safety glasses, and open a bottle labeled pure acetic acid." In addition to the liquid you observe a strong odor of vinegar. Which phases of matter are present in the container? O gas only O solid, liquid, and gas O liquid and gas O gas and solid O solid and liquid

Explanation / Answer

Question 1. As per statement it is clear that propane is sold out by the weight of the gas present in the container. As we know : n (moles)= mass of gas used /molar mass of gas

If the mass of the gas present in the container is fix then the number of moles of gas will also be fix.

Now, according to ideal gas equation: PV = nRT

n = PV/(RT).

So the value of n can be constant if P,V,T all are constant( R is already a constant),because any change in either of these three will affect the number of moles n. So the correct option are a,b,c,d

Question 2. The pressure of any gas depends on the collision of gas molecules with the walls of the container. The intermolecular collision don't contribute for pressure. Since the pressure is directly proportional to force applied by molecules on the walls of container. So the correct option is

a) I and II only

Question 3. Since it's a warm spring afternoon and at this time temperature must be high and melting point of acetic acid is approximately 17?. This means there will not be solid state of acid. As mentioned in the problem there is liquid state. So along with liquid state gaseous state will be present.

So the correct option is c) liquid and gas
