Question

1) What is the Ideal Gas Law?

The Ideal Gas Law was created because it can be hard to describe real gases; this concept helps give a prediction of the gases reaction. Ideal gases will be composed of molecules that follow the rules of: not attracting or repelling each other and have no volume inside them (What is the Ideal Gas Law, n.d.). These gases are related by using the Ideal Gas Laws formula of PV= nRT; P= Pressure, V= Volume, T = Temperature, R = Gas Constant, and n = Number of Mol in Gas. Using this formula you would be able to find the number of moles contained inside an object, such as air inside a basketball (What is the Ideal Gas Law, n.d.).

2) Write a balanced equation for the reaction that fills an automobile air bag.

3) Explain how an air bag deploys when an impact of 10–15 miles per hour is detected.

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1:

The ideal gas law gives the relationship between the three very important variables of an ideal gas , i.e. pressure , volume and temperature.

The law , is given as :

pV = nRT

where p is pressure of gas in atm

V is volume of gas in Litre

T is temperature of gas in Kelvin

n is number of moles and R is the gas constant.
