Zeeman background correction : It is a method wherein the signal from a deuterium lamp a continuum cource is subtracted from the signal from the sample analyzed. This is similar to normalizing with a blank in other cases for the sample measurement. It reduces error due to fluctuation of the instrument.
Zeeman background is employed for a similar purpose in atomic absorption spectroscopy. The background signal from the deuterium cource is subtracted from the analyte signal. We have used this technique in the current method in lab. This was done to improve accuracy of the measurement.
