4 What is minimum the minimum volume of 0.10 M NaOH is required to neutralize 0.02s moles of H2SO4? A 0S0L B 8.0L C 0.25 D. 4.0L A student attempted to convert 0.653 mol of Ng0 into N2 and Oz via the following reaction 2N20-2N2 +02 How many moles of N2 are formed if the reaction proceeds with a percentage yield of 48.8%? 5. A 0319 mo B 134 mol C 0.669 mo D 0.637 mol 6 Which of the following is the volume of 10.9 g of H2 gas with a pressure of 703 Torr and a temperature of 253 K? A 245L B 16.2L C 121L D. 0.160L

Explanation / Answer

4)

For a complete neutralisation

N1V1 =N2V2 ( where N is the normality )

N1V1 = N2V2

1 X 0.1 x V1 = 2 X 0.025 ( Here 2 is multiplied because 1 molecule of H2SO4 gives 2 H+ ions per molecule while only one H+ ion is required to neutralize 1 molecule of NaOH)

V1 = 0.50L so, A is the correct option

5) Percentage yield = 48.8% which means concentration of N2O after dissociation divided by its concentration before dissociation is 0.488

So, 2*0.653-x/2*0.653 = 0.488 ( x is the dissociation constant)

x = 0.668

So moles of N2 formed would be 2x which is equal to 2*0.668=1.34mol (option B)

6) Applying ideal gas equation PV = NRT

P= 703 torr = 0.925atm

0.925*V = (10.9/2)*0.0821*253

V = 245L (option A)
