Question about non-ideal solutions

When positively from ideality. Which of the following statements are TRUE I) the vapor pressure of the mixture is smaller than that predicted by Raoult's Law. II) the vapor pressure of the mixture is greater than that predicted by Raoult's Lavw. III) the forces between water and cyclohexane are stronger than water with itself or cyclohexane with itself. IV) the forces between water and cyclohexane are weaker than water with itself or cyclohexane with itself. V) the heat o solution (AH sol) is endothermic. VI) the heat of solution (AHsoln) is exothermic. 50 g of water and 50 g of cyclohexane are combined, a non-ideal solution is formed which deviates b) II, IV, VI c) II, III, V d) I, IV, VI e) II, IV, v

Explanation / Answer

Option (e) is correct.

As the two liquids are immisible with each other, they will form its own vapour pressure without affecting one another. So overall vapour pressure will be higher.

Because of missibility problem, force between water itself will be strong and cyclohexane will also be strong but among themselves will be less.

Since cyclohexane has the less boiling point, it will take heat from water and evaporates easily or it can take heat from surrounding . Thus, its endothermic phenomenon.
