Question
I made these solutions that correspond to each run in the table above.
With these solutions made I recorded the absorption once KCl was added in 10 second intervals al the way to 100 seconds. I plotted these values as "Absorption vs Time" and created the lines of best fits for each run. Looking back up at the problem I need to find the concentration of I- and S2O8. The slop comes from the line of best fit and the temperature was measured before and after the experiment so I have that recorded. What I don't know is how to find the concentrations of these two species, can someone explain the process for me (do not actually solve all of these numbers)?
TL:DR - How do I find the concentrations of these two species in the initial problem above?
Considering dilution, calculate the initial concentrations used for each trial. For each run, plot the A value on the vertical axis and the time on the horizontal axis and determine the slope. A spreadsheet considerably facilitates this procedure. Report these results in a data table like that shown on the following page 2. | [S2082-] (mol/L) | Slope = relative rate (units/sec. Run # | [I-] (mol/L) | Temp. CC) 2 4 6Explanation / Answer
2 I- (aq) + S2O82-(aq) ----> I2(aq) + 2 SO42-(aq)
No. of moles of I- = volume added of I- * concentration of I-
Concentration of I- =2 mol/(0.25 +0.5+1.0+0.25+0.25+0.25 mL) = 2/2.5 = 0.8 M
Concentration of S2O82-(aq) = 1/(2.5) = 0.4 M
