Expected and observed growth response of recombinant cells to the antibiotics streptomycin, ampicillin, nalidixic acid, or streptomycin plus ampicillin. The "expected" results will vary depending on whether Strain I is the donor or whether Strain Il is the donor and transfers plasmid genes only, or chromosomal genes only.

Explanation / Answer

The results are showing that the strain I is the donor and strain II is the acceptor. The observed results have growth in every medium. Strain I only can survive when it gets amp resistance gene from plasmid and nalidxic acid resistant from chromosome. That is not possible in Hfr strains. However, if strain I transfers its gene to strain II, then the recombinants will get all resistivity. Therefore, the genes transferred from strain I to II. There was no error in results.
