Explanation / Answer
1. Observation: an observation is the recording of a phenomena, the reason behind which might not be apparent.
2. Question: a central question regarding the nature and cause of the phenomena is established, answering which will give an understanding of the phenomena
3. Hypothesis:a proposed explanation is generated which explains the phenomena, but is not yet backed by experimental results, i.e., a hypothesis is purely a theoretical solution.
4. Prediction: before an experiment is performed, a prediction is made based on known parameters and by relying on the hypothesis to create a result scenario which is only possible if the hypothesis is correct.
5. Experiment: in the scientific method, experiments are done to either prove or disprove the hypothesis. Multiple experiments under varying parameters are done to rigorously test any hypothesis under the maximum number of possible conditions.
When the results of the experiment match the prediction, the hypothesis is said to be proved. If not, the hypothesis has to be corrected and tweaked to show for the results.
