Question

Unknown number 462 1. Label all pertinent peak(s) on your IR spectrum. 2. Elemental analysis: show calculations used to determine the empirical formula of your unknown %H %O %N %Br Empirical formula: I formula: 1Z6 Calculate the molecular weight of your empirical formula: 6 Note: be sure to use the mass for the most common isotope of each element, and not the atomic masses given on the periodic table, just as you would for a mass spectrum. . Mass spectrum: a. Molecular ion: 125 b. Halide (if applicable): Br C Peaks used to identify M M+2 c. Alcohol (if applicable): Y d. Does the molecular ion match the MW of the empirical formula?Y N e. If no, what is the ratio between the molecular ion and the molecular weight of the Peaks: M-1M-18 empirical formula? 2:1 3:1 4:1 5:1 f. Write the molecular formula of your unknown: .C g. Calculate the number of unsaturations (show your work)

Explanation / Answer

you have already explained well

all i will be doing is tellin the missing part

form themass spec ..you can see a base ion peak that is most stable adn having molecular mas approx 91 ..which is tropolium cation...hence it shoulf be benzyl chloride..
