Question: Discuss the concept of Renaissance Humanism. Explain, in your own words, what humanism is/was.
Who were the humanists?
What values did they espouse and what were their goals?
In your opinion what has been the influence of humanism in shaping the modern world?
Has that influence been positive or negative?
Answer: It seems to me that the humanists were the base of the Renaissance. They were a group of intellectuals that learned to read and write in a few different languages. Many became teachers and passed down the knowledge of literacy that they had to other humanists, and people in the community, mainly those of royal descent. They would collect the books of the ancient Greco-Roman world and master the languages and the culture so it can be taught to others, keeping the culture alive.
I firmly believe that the influence humanists have had over our current world is a good influence and a takes a part in our everyday lives as well. Without them who knows what cultures would have died off after hundreds of years of change and no one to re-teach the culture to us. Also i believe the past of our ancestors would be mainly blurry if we had no humanists to go back and learn these particular struggles and present them in a way we can relate and change for the better of human society.

Humanist were also used to study ancient text to resolve day-to-day contradiction between philosophers, authors, etc. They used to study those ancient text and used them with more reasoning in today's world.
The main reason behind the Humanist movement was the assimilation of language, literature, learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome. The Humanist struggled in those times to maintain the connection of modern world with the ancient world. The influence of Humanist on today's world is the passing on of the concept of preserve and pass on to the next generation. This is what happens everywhere around the globe, whether it is a school or college or whatever it is, every teacher passes on their knowledge to the next generation who is sitting next to them.
