Oxidative phosphorylation is the process in which ATP is produced by transfer of electrons from NADH or FADH2 to another compound.
In glycolysis, both substrate level phosphorylation and oxidative phosphorylation occurs. Substrate level phosphorylation occurs in two steps: during conversion of 1,3 bisphospoglycerate to 3-phospoglycerate and also during conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate. NADH is produced during conversion of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate to 1,3- bisphospoglycerate and hence oxidative phosphorylation occurs in this step.
