The protein translation depends upon the functional region of protein product. Thus the ptoteins to be sent to the nucleus are translated in the ER lumen,those to be sent back to cytoplasm are translated on the ER membrane by bound ribosomes. And those to be exported to other organs or imported from cells are translated by free ribosomes.

Therefore, those synthesized into ER lumen includes nucleoplasmic and nuclear membrane proteins.The former is bound to nuclear import recetor and through the nuclear pore enters its target region the nucleoplasm.

The later are engulfed by traficking vesicles and sent to nuclear membrane where they are expressed.

The proteins completely synthesized by free ribosomes includes, mitochondrial matrix proteins(MMP), exported proteins and those in the golgi lumen. These MMPs are then translocated through the mitrchondrial membrane proteins into the matrix. Exported proteins reach plasma membrane to be released outside.And the golgi proteins reach the lumen through vesiculat transport.

The proteins synthesized by ribosomes on the ER membrane includes, cytosolic proteins and plasma membrane proteins.

The cytosolic proteins are released back into the cytosol to perform their functions whereas the plasma membrane proteins are sent to the plasma membrane via. trafficking vesicles.
