Certification is defined as the process of publicly attesting that a specified quality or standard has been achieved or exceeded. It is a voluntary process and it is seen as an informal way. Certificates are usually issued by non-governmental agencies.
Licensing is a non-voluntary process by which an agency of government regulates a profession. The goal of licensure is to ensure that the licensees have the minimal degree of competency necessary to ensure that public health, safety, and/or welfare are protected.
Accreditation is a non-governmental, voluntary process that evaluates institutions, agencies, and educational programs, while certification and licensing involves individual practitioners.
All these processes regulates the profession.
