1. megalodon shark teeth was found in North Carolina state . It is the official state fossil. Others are   dinosaurs like P. alisonae(Postosuchus was a splay-legged, half-ton archosaur ) in 1992 of Triassic period.Also  

2.Only fossilized bones that have been recovered in the state from this period are teeth of a small plant-eating dinosaur called Pekinosaurus found in Triassic red basins around Pekin.

3.  A three-toed, bipedal carnivore,a primitive, quadrupedal dinosaur, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus,Apatosaurus,Acrocanthosaurus atokensis.etc

4. cretaceous late period has few of them.

5.Some worm like animals are found in state dated back 620 million years ago with there burrows.These were found in rocks of the Carolina Slate Belt north of Durham.

6.Two species of trilobites were found dated back500- 540 million tears back of cambrian era southern piedmont.

And many more , list is endless.However if go to in order to have a chance of finding fossil in the field ,we definetly find it.
