e) Does A or E form faster from C?

f) What is the reactant of the rate-determining step?

g) Is the first step exergonic or endergonic?

h) Is the overall reaction exergonic or endergonic?

i) Which is the most stable intermediate?

j) Which step in the forward direction has the largest rate constant?

k) Which step in the reverse direction has the smallest rate constant?

6. 2-Chloro-1,3-butadiene, also known as chloroprene, is the monomer from which the polymer neoprene is prepared. Chloroprene results from the reaction of HCl and vinylacetylene. However, the initial product of this reaction is 4-chloro-1,2-butadiene, which can then isomerize to chloroprene. The isomerization is favoured at elevated temperature and can be prevented at lower reaction temperature. Propose a mechanism for this reaction and explain the observations using a reaction coordinate.
