How many liters of O2 gas are produced at 25.0oC and 0.950 atmospheres pressure when 105 grams of KClO3 react?
Explanation / Answer
I'll answer number 2 and 4 here:
2) A. [H+] = 2x10-5 moles / 2 L = 1x10-5 M
B. pH = -log[H+]
pH = -log(1x10-5) = 5
C. pOH = 14 - pH
pOH = 14 - 5 = 9
D. pH = 5, this means that the solution is acidic (pH < 7).
E. Now the new concentration would be:
[H+] = 2x10-5 / 20 = 1x10-6 M
pH = -log(1x10-6) = 6.
4. use the following equation: PV = nRT ---> P = nRT / V
and n = m/MM so:
P = mRT / MM V
MM of Cl2 = 35.5 * 2 = 71 g/mol
P = 12.5 * 0.082 * 298 / 71 * 0.855
P = 5.03 atm
Question 3 and 5, post them per separate in different questions so I can help faster and better. Hope this helps.
