Question
1. You work in the quality control department of a food processing plant. You have recently received feedback that many people have become ill and the only commonality between the people is that they have recently eaten a product that your facility manufactures. You perform an Enterotube test on several batches of the product and one of the batches yeilds bacteria with a CCID value of 25071(Salmonella). Write a letter(brief) to the plant manager explaining the procedure you performed, the results, and why you believe all of the product processed in that particular batch should be recalled.Explanation / Answer
Respective sir, I would like to bring to your attention the experiment I have done on our food products. I have tested our products for any bacteria and have found it to be positive for Salmonella, which is responsible for food poisoning. I conducted the experiment using an enterotube which specifically identifies the family of Enterobacteriaceae. This tube has different compartments to check for different biochemical characteristics of the microbe at the same time. These characteristics include glucose metabolism, production of gas, production of H2S, IMViC tests and many other tests. Totally there are 12 tests. The food is added into the tube and checked for positive/negative reactions. Based on these results a code is generated. This code corresponds to a specific bacterium. Salmonella is a bacterium which can spread quite easily. Hence to prevent any further food posioning outbreaks, we need to recall that entire batch of products.Related Questions
