Question

Order the reactivity of the compounds evaluated in the "Effect of Structure

of ther Alkyl Halide" experiment from slowest to fastest? Were these results

consistent with the expected results? Discuss why your results were or were

not in agreement with the expected results.

Explanation / Answer

The order of reactivity of Alkyl halides is Tertiary halides > Secondary halides > Primary halides.

these results are not consistent with the expected results in case of secondary halides. Generally the expected order of ppt. forming tendency as, 2-bromo-2-methylpropane ---> Ppt formed at 0.67 seconds, 2-bromobutane -----> Ppt. formed at 2:14 seconds, 1-bromobutane -----> Ppt formed at 5:21 seconds.
