help please Calculator Periodic Table Question 2 of 11 The following is a multi-step reaction. The rate-limiting step is unimolecular, with A as the sole reactant A+B C+D "[A] andare both 0.165 M,then the rate of reaction is 0.0010 MS. (a) What is the rate of the reaction if [A] is doubled? Number M/s (b) Starting with the original concentrations, what is the rate of the reaction if IB) is halved? Number M/s (c) Starting with the original concentrations, what is the rate of the reaction if [A] and [B] are both rate of the reaction i IAJ and 1B) are both Number M/s 899Explanation / Answer
1) A + B ----> C + D;
Since in a multi-step reaction, the slowest step is the rate determining step
Hence ; rate of reaction = k*[A] ; where k = rate constant
Now, a) rate of reaction will double when [A] doubles
b) rate of reaction remains the same when [B] is changed.
c) rate of reaction will be 5 times the initial rate when [A] increases by 5 times it initial value but remains the same if [B] changes.
Hence , as per the given conditions of the reaction, the rate increases by 5 times
2) C4H8 --------> 2C2H4
As per Arrhenius Equation:-
ln(k2/k1) = (Ea/R)*[(1/T1) - (1/T2)]
or, ln(k2/6.1*10-6) = (262000/8.314)*[(1/600) - (1/810)]
or, ln(k2/6.1*10-6) = 13.617
or, (k2/6.1*10-6) = e13.617 = 819767.55
or, k2 = 5 s-1
