They do however employ something like a half-million people, and are a significant part of our economy. Noting that the amount of soil loss is driven by the economics of a global market beyond our control, it is argued that we need to accept this in the interests of preserving the half-million jobs which these activities support. The argument is that we as a society can make decisions about how these resources get used, providing that we are guided by a popular agreement on what is best for our collective interests. Considering the subject matter, critique the ethics of this argument.

The ethics of this argument are valid. Large scale soil loss will have a great impact on the future half-million jobs. Because soil loss will effect the production of Food, meat and other forest products because all these are dependent on soil. If soil gets depleted the source of food, meat and forest products will also start depleting.

So the society should make decisions on how frequently these resources should be used. They should come up with new ways to preserve soil loss. Preservation of soil erosion will help prevent the half million people from loosing their jobs. It should to be common goal of the society to presrve the environment because we are all dependent on the outcomes of environment.

Using the resources wisely is the possible solution to the problem.
