1) Find an account of new information about any type of fungus that is somehow BENEFITING a species other than humans;

2)Find an account of new information about any type of fungus that is somehow HARMING a species other than humans. Harm can mean anything from mild to lethal, but always is a negative effect;.

3) Find an account of new information about any type of fungus that is somehow BENEFITING humans, and;

4) Find an account of new information about any type of fungus that is somehow HARMING humans.

BE SURE to list the fungal species, the phylum to which it belongs, the specific type of effect it has, and, for the species other than human, name the species. The fungal species that you report do not have to be symbiotes, but it is perfectly acceptable to include symbiotes. Thus, each one of these four categories should be about a paragraph in length.

Explanation / Answer

1.Mycorrizae is the fungal group that is beneficial for the plants. These fungus are seen to be in association with plant root. Their main function is to help the plant to absorb phosphorus and also they do nitrogen fixation. The plant gives nutrition to them.

2.Amanita bisporigera is a harmful fungus for several species. This is known as destroying angel. This act as it produces a powerful toxin that inhibits RNA polymerase ii activity, and result in liver and kidney failure.

3. Many fungus are helpful for humans. Such as Trametes versicolor it produces protein bound polysaccharide PSK and PSP. In Japan PSK is used as cancer adjuvant.

4. Most of the fungus are pathogens for humans such as Cryptococcus neoformans that cause cryptococcosis in human. It is mainly seen as a secondary infection in AIDS infected patients. Meningitis is common with its infection
