I need help figuring out two compounds that make up an unknown mixture. I took an IR of the Unknown liquid mixture. I then distilled the unknown mixture to seperate it, and I got an IR for the distilled liquid.
Help me identify the two chemicals that make up this unknown mixture please.
(P.S: If this helps, the unknown mixture smelled choclately/spearminty.)

Generally sweet smelling compounds can be an ester.
From the IR of the starting mixture and the product we can say that,
Both contains aliphatic chain in the structure (peaks around 2700-3000 cm-1).
Both contains C=O groups in it.
The broad peak around 3100-3600 cm-1 corresponds to OH strech of alcohol, present in both starting mixture and the product. Please note If a mixture of alcohol and acid is present the OH of acid will overlap with the OH of alcohol.
Peak around 3077 can be due to aromatic C-H strech.
The reaction could have been of an acid with an alcohol with an aliphatic chain and an aromatic ring as a part of either acid or the alcohol to form an ester.
