Unlike the earth enzymes, the Martian enzymes don not contain proteins , rather they are made up of nucleus acids, I.e. Either DNA or RNA . There are no additional catalytic sites made up of amino acids as there are in the earth enzymes. In the place of the amino acids at their active sites, these enzymes will have short stretches of nucleotide sequences that would recognise for a particular substrate. These sequences would be conserved sequences that would be specific for a specific substrate, imparting earth enzyme like specificity to these enzymes. Also, just like the earth enzymes, these catalysts would lower the activation energy of the substrate to enzyme formation and thus carry out the reaction.
