Hot condition soluble Cold condition Insoluble is good crieteria for recrystallisation. So dichloromethane is best solvent for recrystallizing the intermediate

For recrystallizing we have to take intermediate in DCM and heat it add more intermediate and hence due to the effect of heat it will soluble. Then we can filter it so that clean and hot solution of substance will get and try for rapid cooling (using ice) or slow cooling. so that good crystal will get.

Like dissolves like is the rool of thumb for solvation. Means polar compound dissolves in polar solvent in other case nonpolar in nonpolar solvent.

from solvent chart we know the polarity is the order

water > acetic acid > ethanol> 2butanone >dichloromethane > ether

so ether will be non polar. and water will be polar

but our intermediate purely soluble in ethanol and 2 butanone so our polarity of intermediate is average it is not too polar and not too nonpolar

so we can tell bonding is not ionic and bonding is not nonpolar covalent bond

bonding nature will be polar covalent bond

Definetly there should be hetero atom other than carbon and hydrogen then only polar covalent bond will form.

For eg CH3CH2NH2 which has polar covalent bond
