Muscles are made up of cells called fast twich and slow twich. Fast twich muscle generally appears white while slow twich is brown due to additional mitochondria with their ETC positions. Muscles burn fat all the time, especially slow twich muscle. During periods of high demand fat can only be burned so fast because there are only so many copies of the proteins and enzymes involved in ETC and oxidative phosphorylation. As a result, muscle burns glucose as we have many more copies of these enzymes. Explain why it is important that we have muscle cells that have many copies of the enzymes for glycolysis.

Glycolysis provides cells with energy molecules like ATP. Even when there is limited Oxygen supply, cells can rely on glycolysis for energy production by metabolizing sugar or glucose to CO2 and water.Since muscle cell are utilized continuously in physical work, there is apoxia in the muscle cell ,which might lead to fatigue. To over come this, it is necessary that the muscle cells get energy by glycolysis. Hence multiple copies of enzymes for glycolysis is necessary.
