They are taken as an additional supplement. there are 2 types of functional food/drinks: a) Food that has any one nutrient enhanced. b) Presence of a nutrient which is absolutely absent in that particular food items.
Answer 2) Probiotic drinks are the best example. it has additional living organisms popularly known as "good bacteria" which are beneficial to health.
