Question
After 4.00 mol of C2H4(g) and 2.50 mol of Br2(g) are placed in a sealed 1.0L container, the reaction reaches equilibrium and is written as following:
Calculate the equilibrium concentrations of all three substances if the concentration of at C2H4 (g) equilibrium is 2.50 mol/L. Please show all your works. Thanks!
After 4.00 mol of C2H4(g) and 2.50 mol of Br2(g) are placed in a sealed 1.0L container, the reaction reaches equilibrium and is written as following: Calculate the equilibrium concentrations of all three substances if the concentration of at C2H4 (g) equilibrium is 2.50 mol/L.Explanation / Answer
the initial conentrations are 4mol/L and 2.50mol/L of c2h4 and Br2 respectively
suppose at equilbrium conc of c2h4 is 4-x
then of br2 will be 2.5-x
and conc of c2h4br2 will be x
since we know that the eq conc of c2h4 is 2.5
4-x=2.5
x=1.5
so the eq. conc of c2h4br2 will be 1.5
and of br2 will be 2.5-x=2.5-1.5=1
