Part E - Open Ocean Tsunami Detection

Please do not answer one question only and then instruct me to post each question separately. The rules clearly say that as long as my questions are all sub questions and are part of one parent question, which they all are in this case, then it is fine. Posting one answer and then telling me to post each one separately is completely unfair.

Part E - Open Ocean Tsunami Detection

If you had been in a boat in the open ocean as the 1960 Concepción, Chile, earthquake passed, what would have happened to your boat?

Nothing noticeable would have happened. (I believe the answer for this one is C)

Part F - Tsunamis in the Atlantic Ocean

Why hasn't the east coast of the United States been affected by tsunamis in recorded history?

Part H - Elevation Change and Tsunamis

The elevation of Ocean Village has been determined in order to predict the potential risk to tsunamis, but why might this elevation not be accurate after a tsunami? (this is the location map http://media.pearsoncmg.com/ph/esm/esm_hazardcity_4_standalone/assignment06/location_map.htm )

Your boat would have been pushed several hundred miles in the direction the tsunami was traveling. Your boat would have been picked up between 50 and 100 feet by the swelling ocean water. Both the two occurrences above would have occurred.

Nothing noticeable would have happened. (I believe the answer for this one is C)

Part F - Tsunamis in the Atlantic Ocean

Why hasn't the east coast of the United States been affected by tsunamis in recorded history?

The topography of the east coast does not allow tsunamis to reach land. Tsunamis are infrequent and therefore just have not been recorded in that area yet. The east coast does not have a tectonically active zone offshore to generate tsunamis. The east coast is prone to storm surges and tsunamis and storm surges cannot occur in the same areas.

Explanation / Answer

E) both the two occurrences above would have happened.

Because of earthquake magnitude, intensity and water will rise up some feets.

Please post remaining questions Separately thank you
