Question

Someone please help. I just need someone to answer this lab correctly for $50.00.

three ONLINE CALCULATORS
Lab 3—Calculate Your Household Carbon Footprint

DATA:

elecrticity use per month: 200 kwh per month: 12,000 kwh per year

Natural Gas consumption (cu.ft): 10 gigajoules a month= 120 gigajoules year=113738 cu.ft yearly household use

Gasoline(L):125 L permonth , 1500 per year

(other) ex.wood: 400 pounds for 4 months of winter pounds

Instructions

1.Using three (3) online calculators, calculate your household’s carbon footprint for one year. Energy use is different in different seasons, so it is best to include a full year of data, to account for all four seasons.

DATA: FIND ANSWERS FOR THE WHOLE YEAR

Record the data that you entered for each online calculator, and summarize the data in a table that will be included in your report. The table might look something like this:

Data

ABC Calculator

Canadian Gov’t Calculator

Green Calculator

Electricity use (kWh)

Natural gas consumption (cu. ft.)

Gasoline (L)

(other?)

Household carbon footprint

Note: Your table may have slightly different information than this sample version, and may use different calculators.

In another table, record any suggestions on reducing your footprint given to you by the online carbon footprint calculators.

Report

Your report should consist of the following components:

Your two data tables

1.A discussion of the similarities and differences among the results and suggestions from each site. (e.g., What might cause the differences? Did each calculator request identical information? Were the units the same? Could the different calculators be based on different assumptions that only apply to certain geographic areas?)

2.A paragraph describing how you might apply the results to reduce your carbon footprint and save money without changing your quality of life

Household carbon footprint

Explanation / Answer

We calculated the carbon footprint using an online calculator. The number of people in the household was assumed to be 1. The carbon footprint was calculated for one year from 20 october 2015 to 20 october 2016. The units for the natural gas was convert to Kwh. Similarly the units for the other that is wood was converted from pounds to metric ton

Data

Electricity use=12,000 KWh

Natural gas=113738 cu/year=33333 Kwh

Gasoline=1500 litres

Others( wood)=400 pounds=0.18 metric ton

Now total carbon footprint of the household= 14.81 metric ton of CO2

Contribution of carbon footprint from electricity use, natural gas, gasoline and others is 6.41, 6.13.2.26.0.01 metric ton of CO2.

1.The calculations for each calculator is different based on different assumptions and criteria. The different calculators requires information in different ways. for eg. some calculate on the basis whether the house is big, small or medium. They take approximate values rather than the actual values for eg >7000 Kwh. Some have different units eg gasoline consumption units can be Kwh, liters etc. Yes different calculators have different assumptions based on the geographical area. For eg a big or small house criteria can be different in different geographical areas.

2.To reduce the carbon footprint we need to use those products which have minimum packaging which can reduce our waste considerably. Also some waste can be reused or recycled like plastic bottles, paper etc which also helps in reducing waste. Also the waste like vegetable wastes can be mixed with soil and used as a compost for the garden area.
