Describe a strategy you might use to determine how long it took the white cliffs of Dover to have formed, how they were formed and in what environment they likely formed within, based on what you know about their make-up, location and how large and extensive they are. 2. One of the great challenges of earth science is to find ways to illustrate the inferred great age of the earth with the relatively short lifespan of the people observing and commenting on it. Can you think of a way you might try to show our age against the age of the earth in a way that makes it easier to grasp? What does the comparative age differences between human beings and the earth itself tell you about your own existence and significance as a “force” in the grand scheme of things

1. As we know about the white cliffs of Dover, it is composed of mainly coccolith materials and zones of CaCO3 which was formed by coccolithophores. Also, it contains primitive planktonic type algae with remaining bodies of skeletal that were probably deposited to the sea bottom during the period of Cretaceous (i.e. 145 to 65 million years). The radioactive dating of these fossil material depicted this age determination.

2. Humans came on the existence in Holocene epoch of Quaternary period. Thus by comparing the age of earth (i.e. 4560 m.y.) with the birth of human being is quite insignificant and this shows the power of great and mighty nature over the human intellectuals.
