Question
Biomes and Threats
The book talks about different kinds of communities and the different interactions that take place in these communities. Chapter 6 discusses eleven different types of biomes and the impact humans have had on these environments. Read all eleven descriptions. Select the three biomes that you believe have been the most negatively impacted by humans. Select one negative impact humans have had on each biome. Suggest at least one way that we can work to help cut down or eliminate the human threats that the biomes face. You will have three biomes; you will write about one negative impact and one solution with each biome.
Explanation / Answer
answer- Biome is an ecological area where plants and animals (flora and fauna) occurs. there are 2 type of factor present in Each Biome
1- Biotic factor - it includes Producers (plants and cynobacteria), consumers (primary, secondary, ternary and quaternary), decomposers
2- Abiotic factor- it includes Climate, Soil, topography, rocks and vegetation.
generally biome are characterized into 2 categories
1- Aquatic Biome 2- Terrestrial Biome ( it includes Tropical rainforest biome, temperate decidious biome, taiga biome, Tundra biome, Savanna Biome, Desert Biome, temperate evergreen forest, mangroove, salt marsh, temperate grassland, montane grassland and shurbs)
biome effect by human interfernce
1- On grassland Biome- urban development in grassland biome leads to the migration of animals from that region.
because their places is uses by human for the farming and urban development. Hunting has serious impact on biome Ex. American Bisson is devasted by European Settlars and other example is Elephant and Rhinoceros hunting in this Grassland Biome
grassland are converted into cropland which reduces the food avaiability for animals.
Solution- region is subdivided into 3 zone like in the National Park. In the Core Human entry should be restricted. The activity like Hunting is never allowed at any cost. and strict action should be taken. No industrial or residential development should be allowed in biome
2- Impact on Aquatic Biome- Intense fishing, construction near the coastal region , poplulation generated from shipping and oil seepage from offshore oil refineries or reservoir are the common impact on the aquatic biome.
3- on Tropical rain Forest-.deforestration, hunting of animals , human interference where animal acitivty is present there
4- On Tundra climate- Global warming , ozone layer depletion., Oil and gas industrilization in region are human impact on Tundra Biome. Animal species are effected by global warming and oil and gas industrialization. Climate change which is also triggered by human activity
5- On Coral Biome- chemical pollution in the ocean, global warming, ocean water acidification, sewage discharge into the ocean
