Question

1-Describe how would you prepare 200.00mL of 0.150M sodium nitrate from the solid? show calculation

2- How woud you make 150.00mL OF 0.300M sulfuric acid from a stock bottle that is 10.0 M? show calculation

3- What is the new molarity if 25.00mL OF 8.00M hydrochloric acid is diluted to 350.0mL?

4- WHAT effect would the following have on your determined absorbance measurement of a solution. (too high, too low, or unchanged)?

A) bubbles in the cuvette

B) fingerprints that reflect light

C) fingerprints on the cuvette that absorb at your chosen wavelength.

Explanation / Answer

Molarity M = no of moles in solution/volume in litres

1) 0.15 = n/0.2

n = 0.03 moles

weight of sodium nitrate req = 0.03*85 = 2.55gms

so 2.55gms of sodium nitrate is dissolved in 200ml of water

2)V = 150*0.3/10 = 4.5 ml

4.5 ml of 10M stock bottle solution is diluted 150 ml by adding water

3)M = 25*8/350 = 0.57M

Final molarity will be 0.57M

4) A) too low

B) too hiigh

C)unchanged
