Explanation / Answer

Importin or karyopherin.

Gene regulation is the process of controlling which gene in a cell's DNA are expressed. Gene regulation is how a cell controls which genes, out of the many genes in its genome are turned on. Its because of gene regulation that each cell in our body has different set of active genes-despite the fact that almost all the cells have the same DNA. Theses different pattern of gene exprssion leads to different set of proteins, making each cell type uniquely specialized to do its job. Many factors affect whicg gene a cell expresses. Different cell types express different types of genes.
Gene expresssion can be regulated at many levels. Differeent genes are regulated at different points:-
A) Chromatin Accessibility- chromatin structure can be regulated.
B) Transcription-Its a key regulatort point for many genes.
C) RNA Processing-Splicing, Capping and addirion of a poly A tail to an RNA molecule can be regulated.
D) RNA Stability- Lifetime of an mRNA molecule in the cytosol affects how many proteins can be made from it.
