Item 3 3 of 11GS Constants Periodic Table 32.5 kg. She leaves the height 1.60 m above the trampoline (stil on the way up), she is 8.00 kg Figure 1) second for the magnitude of the acceleration due to gravity Correct In inelastic collisions, some of the system's kinetic energy is lost. Explanation / Answer

here,

mass of child , m1 = 32.5 kg

mass of box , m2 = 8 kg

at h = 1.6 m

the speed of child be u1

u1^2 - u^2 = - 2 * g * h

u1^2 - 8.2^2 = - 2 * 9.81 * 1.6

u1 = 5.99 m/s

for the collison

let the final speed be v

using conservation of momentum

m1 * u1 = (m1 + m2 ) * v

32.5 * 5.99 = ( 32.5 + 8) * v

solving for v

v = 4.8 m/s

the maximum height after the collsion,h2 = v^2 /(2g)

h2 = 4.8^2 / (2 * 9.81)

h2 = 1.18 m

so, the maximum height that the girl travel above the trampoline , hmax = h + h2 = 2.78 m
