The rms current in the circuit is 2.90 A. Find the rms voltages across the following (a) the resistor 130.5 (b) the inductor 109.3 (c) the capacitor 769.6 (d) the RLC combination Your response differs significantly from the correct answer. a) V = IR = 2.9*45 = 130.5 V
b) V = I*Xl = I*2pi*f*L
= 2.9*2pi*60*0.1
= 109.3 V
c) V = IXc = I*(1/2pi*f*C)
= 2.9*(1/2pi*60*10*10^-6)
= 769.6 V
d) R = 45 ohm
Xl = 37.69 ohm
Xc = 265.38 ohm
Z = sqrt(R^2 + (Xc-Xl)^2)
= sqrt(45^2 + (265.38 - 37.69)^2)
= 232.1 ohm
V = IZ = 2.9*232.1 = 673.07 V
